This is a free event, for children, teens and adults with special needs, and their families. Parents/Caregivers are welcome to swim.
SAFETY RULES FROM THE YMCA:
-Children 6 and under AND anyone under 48” tall, AND any participant requiring a coast-guard approved life-jacket must have an adult in the water within arms’ reach; ratio 1 adult for up to 2 children. Adult may not take child into water deeper than adults’ chest and child cannot ride the water slide.
-Children 7-9 that can stand flat footed in the cove/beach area with water up to their chest, parents must be present and actively supervising child on the pool deck at all times. Children 7-9 years old must pass the deep water test and be wearing a green band to swim in the deep end independently and must be 48” tall to access the water slide
-Children 9-12 years of age AND 48” tall must pass the deep water test and be wearing a green band to be left alone in the pool, but parent/caregiver must remain within eyesight of the child (may be in the observation room).
-All children 12 and under are required to take a deep water test to swim independently in the deep end of the pool.
-Children 12 and older may also be required to take a swim test for safety purposes, and if given a green band they may use any area of the pool, including the water slide, without parent or caregiver.
